Shanghai Biren Projects Up to 22-Fold H1 2026 Revenue Surge as AI Chip Demand Booms
Shanghai Biren Technology, the Chinese GPU designer that listed in Hong Kong in January 2026, told the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on August 17 that it expects first-half 2026 revenue of 1.15 billion to 1.30 billion yuan (roughly $170.8M–$193.1M), up 1,852%–2,107% year-on-year, SCMP and TipRanks reported. The company projected a net loss of 320 million to 400 million yuan, narrowing 75%–80% from a year earlier, with adjusted loss narrowing 35%–47% to 290–360 million yuan. Biren attributed the surge to the domestic AI industry boom driving GPGPU demand, accelerated commercialization of its BIRENSUPA product line, and a more diversified customer base, while noting the low base in H1 2025 amplified the year-on-year growth rate. The filing lands amid a wave of similar guidance from second-tier Chinese AI chip designers — including Cambricon and Hygon — as US export restrictions continue to funnel domestic AI compute demand toward homegrown suppliers, pushing several toward the edge of profitability for the first time.
