Cadem Poll: 49% Reject New State of Exception, Kast Disapproval Climbs to 57%

A second Cadem wave published August 24 found 49% of respondents disagree with establishing the new security state of exception in Kast's ACOT constitutional reform (44% agree), 61% believe any such state of exception should require congressional authorization rather than being a sole presidential attribution, and 55% say the country is headed in the wrong direction. President Kast's approval fell to 40% with disapproval rising to 57%. The polling landed alongside growing commentary — including from opposition legal analysts — warning that the reform's proposed 240-day presidential state of exception, with its movement and assembly controls, asset seizure and warrantless telecommunications interception, risks weakening judicial and congressional checks on executive power even though it targets organized crime and terrorism.
