New Security Minister Arrau Ousts Subsecretaries Jouannet and Quintana Two Weeks Into Tenure
Public Security Minister Martín Arrau — installed in the May 19 cabinet reshuffle that removed Trinidad Steinert — requested the resignations of Subsecretary of Public Security Andrés Jouannet and Subsecretary of Crime Prevention Ana Victoria Quintana, both holdovers from the Steinert era. Arrau said the move was intended to allow him to implement his own emphasis and restructure the ministry, and that acting replacements (subrogancias) would hold the posts until permanent appointments — Pilar Giannini Bravo (Public Security) and Gonzalo Guerrero Valle (Crime Prevention) — were confirmed. The shake-up came barely two weeks after Arrau's own appointment and deepened the narrative of instability inside the security portfolio, which had already seen the fastest post-1990 ministerial turnover under Kast.
