Sánchez and Feijóo Clash in Congress Over Ceuta, Trade Accusations of 'Chronifying' the Crisis

PM Pedro Sánchez and PP leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo confronted each other in Congress on Wednesday in an exchange that turned nearly the entire session into a debate on Ceuta. Feijóo demanded to know when Sánchez last spoke with a Moroccan authority since the July 30-31 crossing, saying 'either you don't want to and want to chronify the problem, or you are incompetent, or someone is lying,' and accused the government of 'making life bitter for Ceuta's citizens and degrading Spain's image.' Sánchez countered that the PP had proposed suspending the EU's association agreement with Morocco the day before, and accused Feijóo of habitually 'putting obstacles' during the pandemic, the La Palma volcano, wildfires, the 2024 Valencia floods (DANA) and now Ceuta, calling his patriotism 'pick-and-choose.' Ministers and spokespeople from both blocs prolonged the exchange for most of the session.
