Sánchez Announces Mass Migrant Regularisation
Spain's Council of Ministers approves an 'extraordinary regularisation' expected to grant legal status to roughly 500,000 undocumented migrants, entering into force with publication in the Official State Gazette on April 15. Over one million people ultimately apply — about 25% more than projected, primarily of Latin American and Moroccan origin. EU leaders later cite the scheme as a 'pull factor' behind the Ceuta crisis.
