Toronto City Council Approves Temporary 'BTS Boulevard' Street Renaming

July 29-30, 2026 — Toronto City Council adopts a motion, introduced by Councillor Lily Cheng, to temporarily co-name the stretch of Yonge Street between North York Boulevard and Finch Avenue as 'BTS Boulevard' from on or about August 21 through September 23, welcoming ARMY ahead of BTS's ARIRANG World Tour concerts at Rogers Stadium on August 22-23. The council also requests Mayor Olivia Chow proclaim August 22-23 'BTS Weekend' and asks that Toronto's City Hall sign be illuminated in purple for the concert dates; the commemorative street signs will later be auctioned for local charities. Installation of the temporary signage remains contingent on the city securing intellectual-property permission from Big Hit Music.
