Mexico's Profeco Initiates Fine Against Ticketmaster Over BTS Ticket Chaos — ARMY Fans Stranded Outside While Seats Go Viral
Controversy erupts on the night of BTS's May 7 Mexico City concert at Estadio GNP Seguros: photos and videos shared on social media showed sections of empty seats inside the venue while large groups of ARMY fans gathered outside the stadium unable to enter. The images went viral amid reports of ticket reseller issues — with platforms StubHub and Viagogo allegedly acquiring blocks of tickets that never reached fans who purchased them. Mexico's federal consumer protection agency Profeco (Procuraduría Federal del Consumidor) announced the initiation of fine proceedings of more than 5 million pesos (~$277,800 USD) against Ticketmaster México for alleged legal violations during the BTS ticket sales process. Ticketmaster, StubHub, and Viagogo were all cited. Billboard reported on the government action under the headline 'BTS in Mexico: Government Initiates Fine Against Ticketmaster Over Sales Controversy.' The three Mexico City dates had sold out in under 40 minutes at original sale. Sportskeeda described fan rage with 'So damn pissed' in the headline, reflecting the intensity of ARMY's reaction across social media. HYBE Mexico did not issue an immediate statement; Ticketmaster México declined to comment at press time.
