NDB 11th Annual Meeting Opens in Moscow — Technology, Nuclear Energy, and AI in Finance on Agenda

| BRICS

The New Development Bank (NDB) convened its 11th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors in Moscow, Russia on May 14-15, 2026 — the first NDB annual meeting held in Moscow and a decision taken at the 10th Annual Meeting in Rio de Janeiro during Brazil's 2025 chairmanship. The theme was 'Development Financing in an Era of Technological Revolution.' The pre-meeting seminar on May 13 addressed NDB support for nuclear power and nuclear medicine. The flagship Governors Seminar on May 14 covered financing development in the technological age, with satellite sessions on AI in finance, healthcare trends to 2030, universities of the new economy, and virtual assets. Speakers included Russian Deputy PM Alexey Overchuk, Deputy Finance Minister Ivan Chebeskov, and Columbia University's Jeffrey Sachs. The May 15 business session addressed ongoing NDB operations; the BRICS FM meeting in New Delhi simultaneously adopted language supporting 'further NDB membership expansion.' Russia's lending suspension (since Dec 2022) was not publicly resolved at the meeting. The NDB has approved $35.7 billion+ across 100+ projects globally, targeting 30% local currency lending by year-end 2026.
