COB Declares National General Strike

The Central Obrera Boliviana (COB) launched an indefinite general strike backed by more than 70 unions carrying over 100 demands, from a 20% wage increase to opposition to the closure of loss-making state enterprises. The first road blockades appeared in La Paz the same day.
