Honda and QuantumScape Partner to Develop and Commercialise Solid-State Batteries

Honda and QuantumScape announced a joint development partnership to advance and commercialise solid-state battery technology for next-generation electric vehicles. QuantumScape's lithium-metal anode solid-state cells — which eliminate the graphite anode and use a ceramic solid electrolyte — have been under development for years; Honda's manufacturing scale and EV platform expertise adds a significant commercialisation pathway. The deal represents one of the most prominent OEM-startup solid-state pairings outside the Toyota/Panasonic alliance and signals growing OEM confidence that solid-state cells are approaching production viability.
