CATL's CAIT Skateboard Chassis Division Partners with Turkish EV Maker Togg on Bedrock Platform — First Overseas Passenger Vehicle Project

Contemporary Amperex Intelligent Technology (CAIT), CATL's skateboard chassis and integrated EV platform subsidiary, announced a strategic partnership with Turkish automotive brand Togg on May 7, 2026 for the joint development of the Bedrock chassis platform for a new B-segment vehicle family. The deal marks CAIT's first overseas passenger vehicle platform project, extending CATL's integrated battery-chassis technology beyond China's domestic market. Togg — Turkey's government-backed electric vehicle brand launched in 2022 — will use the Bedrock platform, which integrates the battery pack as a structural load-bearing element of the vehicle floor, reducing total weight and manufacturing complexity while optimizing pack thermal management. CAIT was spun out of CATL to operate as a standalone EV platform company, offering the full vertical stack of battery cells, pack design, power electronics, and skateboard architecture to automakers globally. The partnership with Togg is strategically significant for both parties: Togg gains access to CATL's cell-to-chassis expertise and reduces development cost and risk for its expansion models; CATL gains a foothold in the growing Turkish and broader MENA automotive market and establishes the Bedrock platform as a credible alternative to the Volkswagen MEB and Hyundai/Kia E-GMP architectures for regional automakers. The Bedrock platform is designed to accept different battery chemistries (LFP, NMC, and sodium-ion) and supports fast-charging architectures up to 800V. The B-segment vehicle family (compact crossover and sedan) is targeted at the European and Turkish markets, where demand for affordable EVs priced below €35,000 is growing.
