"Porto Rico" Epic Announced — Bad Bunny's First Lead Film Role; Directed by Residente with Bardem, Norton, Mortensen

On February 18, 2026, *Porto Rico* is announced — an epic Caribbean western and Bad Bunny's first lead film role. Directed by Residente (René Pérez Joglar) as his feature directorial debut, the historical drama follows Puerto Rican revolutionary José Maldonado Román ("Aguila Blanca") fighting Spanish colonialism in the late 19th century. Supporting cast: Viggo Mortensen, Edward Norton, and Javier Bardem. Oscar-winning director Alejandro G. Iñárritu executive produces; Alexander Dinelaris (*Birdman* co-screenwriter) co-wrote the script. The project reunites two Puerto Rican icons who collaborated on the 2019 protest anthem "Afilando los Cuchillos" and represents the most ambitious cinematic project of Bad Bunny's acting career.
