Sheinbaum Orders Segob–FGR Joint Report on Case Ahead of 12th Anniversary

President Sheinbaum instructed the Interior Ministry (Segob) and the Attorney General's Office (FGR) to jointly prepare and publicly present a detailed progress report on the Ayotzinapa investigation before the September 26 anniversary. Interior Secretary Rosa Icela Rodríguez said newly reviewed phone records from the night of the attack — not thoroughly analyzed in the original investigation — had opened fresh investigative lines and led to detentions of individuals not previously implicated, though she declined to disclose names or numbers, citing investigative confidentiality. As of mid-September the report had not yet been released.
