IFT-12 Starship V3 at T-2 Day Operations — Final Countdown Preparations Underway, NET May 19 at 5:30 PM CDT
With the full-stack Wet Dress Rehearsal completed on May 16, SpaceX's Integrated Flight Test 12 (IFT-12) — the maiden flight of the clean-sheet Starship V3 architecture — entered T-2 day pre-launch operations at Orbital Launch Pad 2 (OLP-2), Starbase, Boca Chica, Texas on May 17, 2026. Booster 19 and Ship 39 remain stacked at the pad as SpaceX launch teams conducted standard terminal countdown preparations including avionics verification sequences, propellant system checks, and Range safety coordination with the FAA and Space Force's Eastern Range. No technical anomalies or weather concerns were reported. The FAA launch license previously issued for IFT-12 remains valid with no new regulatory holds. The NET (No Earlier Than) window is confirmed for May 19, 2026, at 5:30 PM CDT (22:30 UTC), with the backup window extending through May 21. IFT-12 is the debut of the entirely redesigned Starship V3 vehicle: Booster 19 uses 33 next-generation Raptor 3 engines, while Ship 39 is the first Starship to carry the pressurized docking port and propellant-transfer interface hardware mandated by NASA for Artemis III HLS qualification. While IFT-12 will not perform an actual ship-to-ship orbital propellant transfer, the flight will validate the docking ring structure, quick-disconnect interface, and propellant-transfer line hardware under simulated space conditions — a NASA-required precursor milestone on the path to Artemis IV crewed lunar landing (targeted 2028). The revised IFT-12 trajectory sends Ship 39 on a suborbital arc to splashdown in the Indian Ocean; Booster 19 will attempt splashdown in the Gulf of Mexico (no tower catch planned for Flight 12). Twenty-two Starlink V3 simulator payloads occupy the cargo bay, and two external cameras will photograph the heat shield during flight for post-mission analysis.
