Paraguay Becomes 67th Artemis Accords Signatory — Ceremony in Asunción

| Artemis II

Paraguay became the 67th nation to sign the Artemis Accords on May 7, 2026, at a signing ceremony in Asunción. Paraguayan Space Agency minister president Osvaldo Almiron Riveros signed on behalf of the country. Paraguay's accession extends the international coalition for responsible, peaceful space exploration to 67 nations — three new signatories in under two weeks (Morocco April 29, Malta and Ireland May 4, Paraguay May 7) — building on the global momentum generated by Artemis II's successful crewed lunar flyby (April 1–10, 2026). Paraguay also has GuaraníSat-2, its second satellite, scheduled to launch on a Falcon 9 from Vandenberg in October 2026, reflecting the country's growing space ambitions. The Artemis Accords now encompass 67 nations, in contrast to the rival China/Russia-led International Lunar Research Station (ILRS) coalition.
