Milei Rejects Recession Talk, Says He's 'Calm' About 2027 Reelection

Speaking at an Economic Club of New York event in an interview with Bloomberg Editor-in-Chief John Micklethwait, President Milei downplayed concerns over Argentina's stalling economy — including the Q2 2026 GDP contraction and rising poverty and unemployment — saying 'we don't see any problem with growth' and that he remains 'very calm' about his prospects for reelection in 2027. Milei projected that, if reelected, 2028 would be 'the best year of Argentine economic history' in both financial and real-economy terms. The remarks came the same day INDEC data showed poverty climbing to 32.3%.
