Poll Shows Kicillof Edging Ahead of Milei in Hypothetical 2027 Runoff
A QSocial poll (fieldwork July 8–31, 2026) put Buenos Aires Province Governor Axel Kicillof narrowly ahead of Milei in a hypothetical 2027 runoff, 42% to 41% — within the margin of error but the first major public poll of the cycle to show an opposition candidate leading Milei head-to-head. In first-round scenarios, Milei led with 31%, followed by Kicillof (29%), Myriam Bregman (11%), and Juan Schiaretti (8%). Against a hypothetical Sergio Massa candidacy, Milei led more comfortably in both first round (31% to 22%) and runoff (42% to 38%). Other pollsters released around the same week showed mixed results — Trends (fieldwork through late July) had Milei ahead 41%-40% in a runoff against Kicillof, down from a 15-point lead in March — underscoring a broader narrowing trend in Milei's advantage as the 2027 campaign approaches.
